I generally agree, but it's actually kind of weird how little GitHub matters for SWE hiring, if you think about it.
- verdverm 3y agoit's like any content creation platform, a minority of users create the majority of content, so in most cases, there is little to judge a candidate by Certifications are a gamed system already, see LinkedIn... this will make GH less reliable for vetting in the long run. They are really only good for breaking into a field (new hire like), but it's like looking at a college transcript. Sure you passed the tests, but what did you learn?
