This is going to be a very unnpopular opinion, but the United States is not going to start WW3 over Taiwan. It is a bluff. There is virtually no support in America for going to war with China over some tiny island country, and Biden wants to pretend we will, but we won't. It will never happen. We may apply sanctions and China might turn into an western pariah state, but no one in the west is going to think it's worth it to fight world wide nuclear war and join the army to defend a tiny island with what feels like a throwback to the 1970's with it's unmaintained infrastructure. The only way China could actually pull the United States into this kind of war is with a pearl harbor style direct attack on our territory or our capital ships, but even then. It's a total bluff. As much as I believe in democracy and don't want to give Taiwan up to China, I think we have to live in reality on this.
