My wife is South Indian, and her dad is a very proud Brahmin (I think that's the highest on the pole). He has mentioned it at least once or twice at some point when I was around him. We do not know if he discriminates anyone based on their caste or not, but he is a hardcore traditionalist. (I realize this is an anecdote and it doesn't speak for anyone else).
