For Sale: A ZIL 131 6×6 Ex-Soviet Military Camper Truck
- lstodd 3y agoThe bit about 6x6 being rarer than 4x4 is just plain wrong. It's 4x4 that's almost nonexistent. That niche was taken by GAZ-66 Shishiga. EDIT: actually GAZ-66 is better as a camper because it's smaller, lighter, can handle rougher terrain and eats only 30L/100km of gasolne -- not 50 like the 131 while mounting the same kung (КУНГ) module (living place etc) like the 131 that's pictured in the article.
- hnbear 3y agoShould note this is not for sale, the auction ended a while ago in Feb ‘22, and this is an article about the vehicle, not a link to the auction site itself. Otherwise, it’s an interesting article on a great bit of kit. My uncle bought a Russian Uaz 4x4 back in the late 90s. Great run to run around in. Incredibly basic, even had a hand crank start if the batteries died. But dual batteries, dual fuel tanks, and no amenities at all.
- mistyvales 3y agoYes, apologies. I shared it specifically for the information and cool photos :D
