Chicago is the first city. California as a whole (and several other states) have already eliminated sub-minimum wage statewide.
Edit: Not first city. Biggest city to do so independently.
- dmoy 3y agoThat's a really weird way to write the title then. "Chicago does X before NYC, ignoring LA which didn't have to because of a state law that already did X" ?
- HWR_14 3y agoThe fourth paragraph in the article explains LA already does it and lists every state. The first paragraph and the original title users the word "independently" to emphasize it was Chicago's choice and not a statewide mandate like LA. Really, this should be fixed as a misleading change-of-title when posting to HN. Who can summon dang?
- toomuchtodo 3y agoTitle limit, I could not fit independently in. Propose a better title and I'll edit. EDIT: "Chicago independently abolishes subminimum wage for tipped workers." May dang have mercy on my choices.
