I recently watched a video from 6 months ago about some ICEsat-like Chinese satellite that was taking readings around Hawaii for some reason. It looks really spooky because it is a green laser coming down from space. It was picked up by some long exposure camera near an observatory. The part that concerned me was the comment section, it seemed people had come to the consensus that these lasers caused the wild fires 5 months later, and even more wild claims like it has also caused the fires in Canada and Colorado. I find it hard to believe that so many people could become so convinced and angered by such a baseless idea. Maybe it was just that people who already had this idea flocked to the comment section, but it still stuck with me.
