My experience with PC OEM software is beyond horrific, so I am not looking forward to this.
- JohnFen 3y agoThe very first thing I do with any new computer I buy is to reformat the hard drive and install the OS I prefer. I don't even boot the machine first. This habit resolved all of my OEM software issues.
- brucethemoose2 3y agoUnless you need the OEM software for things like the screen backlight, function keys or power/fan profiles to work... Or they get auto installed from the BIOS, like a native rootkit.
- RecycledEle 3y agoWho bundles that into their BIOS? I like my BIOS with only the non-obvious backdoors, surveillance, and tampering.
- brucethemoose2 3y agoLenovo used to, secretly and automatically. IIRC they aren't the only ones. My AsRock desktop board will do it with permission, but they have the best OEM software I have seen in years because it is basically nothing, and doesn't autorun.
- JohnFen 3y agoI suppose, but these are things that I've never actually encountered in any machines I've purchased.
