Often, there's no antenna for FM in the devices, even though they might be able to theoretically receive, and may even have an RF frontend for it. Older phones often used the ground of attached headphones as a makeshift antenna, and would refuse to operate, or just fail to receive anything.
- Mountain_Skies 3y agoIIRC, the Microsoft Zune promoted its inclusion of an FM receiver and that the included earphones were the antenna.
- WorldMaker 3y agoMany Windows Phones in the WP8/8.1 generation supported that, too, and it worked semi-well with just about any headset plugged in not just included ones.
