Charlie Munger’s controversial dorm design at UCSB appears dead
- jqpabc123 3y agoA working example of the Peter Principal. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_principle https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_principle Just because you've made lots of money picking stocks doesn't necessarily make you a good architect. And just being born into "royalty" doesn't either. https://www.architecturaldigest.com/story/brief-history-king-charles-modern-architecture https://www.architecturaldigest.com/story/brief-history-king...
- Kaibeezy 3y agoA friend of mine was trying to explain to me that Munger is an accomplished and respected _____, but I have no knowledge of Munger’s usual world and really only heard of him in the context of this prison-dorm. My exact response was “he rose to the level of his incompetence”.
- Obscurity4340 3y agoIts just so objectively asinine that someone like him takes something this far without even a whiff of self-awareness and, I'll just add, even a shred of damn humillity. I love how you put that. It would be lighthearted to me if it wasn't so ominously illustrative of a much larger issue where the wealthy and highly-accomplished really do think they are basically emperors-in-exile and are willing to go to all the trouble of summarily sacrificing you that they may continue to plow away unexamined and unmolested by common sense+decency.
