Many companies have to face the “What got us here won’t get us there” piper. Sometimes it’s running a scrappy stack on obscure tech that worked for the founding engineering team, but they can’t hire enough new people to scale it, so they have to rebase to something more mainstream. Sometimes it’s the org chart or open plan office that just needs some structure worked into it. Sometimes it’s that the founder was an ADHD instigator who needs to go instigate another company and let this one mature.
Not meaning to pick on ADHD, but it’s a special case where creativity and there-is-no-box thinking are a boon for making something from nothing, but aren’t a huge asset when you need to not freak out thousands of employees and customers.
