[0] It's a sentiment that gets paraphrased into "people find it easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism." In the entire history of capitalism and industrial society, neither global energy use nor global CO2 emissions have ever decreased, except for one brief instant when we shut everything down in order that many more of us wouldn't die of COVID. We're driving ourselves off a metaphorical cliff and laughing about it.
