Renting short term housing to tourists does not help the housing issue, and it is unfair to neighbors that did not sign up to live next to or in the same apartment building as a hotel. Tourists belong in hotels, not in residential buildings. NYC, where I live, has effectively banned Airbnb recently. It’s a great change. LA should do it too.
