CA State Guidelines Discourage Schools from Offering Advanced Middle School Math
- Bostonian 3y agoThe "problem" is that Asians and to a lesser extent whites are taking advanced math in middle school at higher rates than blacks and Hispanics. This solution won't work, because a large fraction of Asian parents will afterschool their children in math if they think school math is insufficient. My wife and I are Asian-Indian and sent our children to Russian School of Math https://www.mathschool.com/ https://www.mathschool.com/. A large fraction of students at RSM are Asian. In our area, Chinese parents run Sunday schools where advanced math courses are offered, typically taught by Chinese fathers who are scientists or engineers. There is a national association of such Chinese Sunday schools.
