Pure Remote Jobs from “HN: Who Is Hiring”
- gj0 3y agoThis list was created by filtering jobs via wihh. Its a chrome extension to filter jobs on HN via keywords and then save/discard applications. Here is the link for the same : https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/wihh/mpfaljjblphnlloddaplgicpkinikjlp https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/wihh/mpfaljjblphnl....
- yjftsjthsd-h 3y agoHonestly this is a much easier format to read anyways. It might be useful to find something in this sheet and then go find the original post, but this is so much quicker to skim down looking for a particular role.

- agumonkey 3y agoWhat is the situation regarding full remote offers ? Do you all see more and more restrictions, pressure and hybrid on site job ads ?
- gj0 3y agoPersonally I feel remote jobs have decreased a lot since February. Though for this month the number seem to be a bit more than the previous months.
- Mountain_Skies 3y agoThe market is currently on the side of tech employers and those who want things to go back to the way they were are taking advantage of the situation. The pendulum pretty much always swings back and when things are in the favor of employees again, the companies that are now busy fostering bad will are going to have a much more difficult time attracting talent than those who are structuring their work environment for the new reality.
- nekoashide 3y agoI list remote only on my LinkedIn profile, it's what my current company offers. Recruiters and HR people only reach out to me to inquire about if I would accept Hybrid roles. I get 2/3 a week with the same spiel. My last HR interview went south when after they pitched a lower salary, hybrid work and finally ended with "Are you sure you like your job now?" I told them I wasn't interested and that ended that. The one remote job interview I did in the last year wasn't a good fit. I declined the offer.
- kstrauser 3y agoThat's so frustrating. I'm in the Bay Area, but strongly prefer remote jobs. First, I've enjoying having 90 minutes a day not spent commuting added back to my life. Second, I'd been with a remote-only company for several years, and it went swimmingly once we all adjusted to it. Finally, there's a big world out there. My wife's brought up checking out other places, and if I'm already remote, I can just up and move to wherever without disrupting my job one bit. And yet, I still get recruiters asking if I'd like to hear about their on-site job in Tampa. No. No, I wouldn't.
- kvirani 3y agoThis is a great idea, thank you! What about details in the original comment, though? Can you easily add a link to the original HN comment?
- gj0 3y agoThanks, I'll try to add the original HN comment link in the sheet !
- gj0 3y agoI have also observed that a lot of popular Remote Job platforms out there, don't actually have "Pure" Remote Jobs. They are either hybrid or are restricted to a very specific country. I sometimes do feel the need of a platform where only "Pure" remote jobs are listed with working times at-least a bit broader than a single city or country.
- notpushkin 3y agoI don't get it (the employers). If I do my job, live roughly in the same timezone, take care of my own taxes, and don't have to go to office anyway since the job is remote... why don't you just hire me as a contractor? What difference does it make if I live in your particular country?
- Chris2048 3y agoSo what if you screw them over, which jurisdiction can they turn to? Plus, the tax burden may be that you do more than "your own taxes" but to have an accountant, and probably a company, registered in the relevant country anyway.
- notpushkin 3y agoScrew them over how? If they don't like my work, they can fire me on the spot and just stop paying my invoices. If I do something very shady, they can sue me in the jurisdiction of the contract (I'm happy if it happens to be their country). > Plus, the tax burden may be that you do more than "your own taxes" but to have an accountant, and probably a company, registered in the relevant country anyway. How does that work? IIRC as a company, you can pay any company or contractor you want (excluding tax havens), and generally it is the contractor's responsibility to pay taxes, unless some physical goods are shipped. (Emphasis on generally, I haven't researched every country's tax laws, but it should work for US and EU.)
- Chris2048 3y agoshare confidential information, double-sell their software that you wrote, break some other contractual agreement exceeding the value of your last invoice. > they can sue me in the jurisdiction of the contract which requires your local jurisdiction to play ball or else you can just ignore it.
- roflyear 3y agoOne thing that bothers me about a lot of the job posts lately is they are not including salaries, even when required by law in the states they are hiring in.
- Mountain_Skies 3y agoI've seen some postings in recent months say salary ranges are available by request of residents of the state where they're legally required to be given. I'm really curious if this fulfills the requirements of the laws in those states or not.

- snows 3y agoCould a filter be added for the "remote in" column? I thought that the 3 lines indicates a filter but it doesn't work.
- gj0 3y agoIt does exists for that column also, try scrolling sheet towards right and the filter will appear :)
- adnjoo 3y agoThanks! https://hnhiring.com/ https://hnhiring.com/ is also good
