Cutting back alcohol as productivity and happiness hack
- francoisboulais 3y agoAlcohol is everywhere in occidental culture, appearing in various forms of art such as movies, photography, and literature, as well as in everyday life at places like restaurants, clubs, and stadiums. I used to be a heavy drinker during my university studies and from my 20s to 30s. I made several attempts to cut back, but I couldn't stay sober for more than 3-4 days at a time. That's why I've decided to create an app for that! Drylendar, the app I developed, isn't a serious or medical application; it's a fun and social platform designed for sharing progress and motivation with friends. I'm pleased to announce that Drylendar is now available on the App Store! As of today, I've been sober for 214 days!
- shortcake27 3y agoWhat made you decide to cut it out completely rather than just reducing intake? I don’t have a problem drinking a couple of days a week with mates, but at the moment I drink daily by myself which I’m not happy with, so I’m trying to cut down on that.
- axiologist 3y agoAfter some research and coming to the conclusion that there are no health benefits correlated with alcohol, the decision twentysome years ago to simply ignore it without blaming others for their consumption habits has been a very painless one. Never really liked the awareness/consciousness numbing of that substance anyway. Alcohol may be integral to western culture even since before antiquity but that doesn't make it any better than its consumers pretend it to be.
- molecke 3y agoI absolutely agree, the worst part of alcohol is that it negatively impacts the next day for my, so that I wake up later, am less focused etc.
- RetroTechie 3y agoYeah it's almost impossible not to overshoot the Ballmer peak. http://xkcd.com/323 http://xkcd.com/323 Although back in the day playing Q3A I remember not playing worse after 1 or 2 glasses. After some deliberation, the reason: slightly under influence, I'd play a bit more relaxed, have a bit more time to aim at opponents, and thus the '1st strike' would be slightly more often in my favor. Alcohol not affecting my aim, or evasive manouvres too much. Drawback was limited as one tends to be less of a target while not shooting yourself. So with 1, maybe 2 glasses pro- and con effects were a wash. Above that & responses became too slow.
