Chinese sailors dead after trying to trap British sub-surface vessels
- metadat 3y agoHow do we know if it happened or not when China always offers blanket denials in these cases? (Because the Chinese government value projecting perfection over accepting reality)
- didntknowya 3y agoany country would avoid confirming any defense errors, I don't see why China needs to be singled out every time
- metadat 3y agoFair point, thanks matey.
- huitzitziltzin 3y ago“After trying to trap British subsurface vessels” in that headline is substantially misleading. “After becoming caught in a trap set to catch etc…” is a more accurate description, IMO.
- CrzyLngPwd 3y agoThis is a propaganda fiction written by entertaining sensationalists pretending to be journalists. Scroll down, you'll find more enertainment.
- tibbydudeza 3y agoWell they did name Captian Colonel Xue Yong-Peng as a casualty. Very easy to debunk if he ever appears again in official media - there are official photos of him if you look deep enough , it not like the old days of Stalin where people disappear by brush from photos.

- meepmorp 3y agoNo, no - it's completely plausible for a nuclear powered sub to get stuck in at most 150 meters of water and have all its life support systems fail badly enough to kill a couple dozen sailors. Also, China simply hasn't mastered the complex technology to remove CO2/generate O2 in an emergency - nuclear reactors, sure, but a big canister of lithium hydroxide and some oxygen candles are completely beyond them. The whole article is dumb af. Maybe a sub bottomed out or smacked into something and had to head back to port - no way they lost a whole boat.
- lgvln 3y agoA previous rumor involving the same class of submarine: Chinese submarine crash rumor unsubstantiated: MND https://www.taipeitimes.com/News/taiwan/archives/2023/08/22/2003805127 https://www.taipeitimes.com/News/taiwan/archives/2023/08/22/...
- simonblack 3y agoIt's in the 'Daily Fail'. The newspaper for gullible people. I predict that it will turn out to be be bullshit, as most of the 'Daily Fail' stuff is.
- meepmorp 3y ago> 'We have kit which absorbs CO2 and generates oxygen in such a situation. It is probable that other nations do not have this kind of tech.' Just for reference, we're talking about canisters of cheap, easy to make chemicals eat CO2, and a "candle" that releases O2 at a fixed rate as it burns.
