Thanks for this! I constantly open projects with `code .`, and have tired of waiting a few seconds for the `devcontainer configuration detected` popup, and then another few seconds while the project re-opens in the container.

Exactly! The devcontainer-cli that can be installed using vscode contains a `open` utility that opens it as well. But the one available in package managers and npm does not have this, because they want this to be IDE-independent. It is also quite slow and requires node.

  Ah, didn't know it was a thing. Kind of gross it's only installable with NPM however
