I was literally going to suggest something like this… an “early adopter round” to grow awareness and get testimonials from people who don’t need the FDA certification and who will look at this and go “hell yes I have a thousand dollars to spend on yet another gadget to obsess over my personal fitness geek lifestyle”… there will be people experimenting in other countries… open data curious nerds, and lots of other people that would probably spend between $250 and $1000 on something like this… test the water with some signup forms and surveys and see what breakpoints you can hit with a small “hand made” batch without a full production run. Look at it this way… your tech is cool, but you know you have to find the money for the FDA certification, you’ve filled out Kickstarter, keep going and see if you can charge twice the price and slowly make prototypes and send them to willing early adopters who want in on the ground floor and don’t care about the FDA part…
