Have you investigated a large pre-sale to organizations that don’t need FDA approval? One example that came to mind is retirement communities. Also, idk what your tech stack is but if it’s mostly an accelerometer could you make this an Apple Watch app?
- techdragon 3y agoI was literally going to suggest something like this… an “early adopter round” to grow awareness and get testimonials from people who don’t need the FDA certification and who will look at this and go “hell yes I have a thousand dollars to spend on yet another gadget to obsess over my personal fitness geek lifestyle”… there will be people experimenting in other countries… open data curious nerds, and lots of other people that would probably spend between $250 and $1000 on something like this… test the water with some signup forms and surveys and see what breakpoints you can hit with a small “hand made” batch without a full production run. Look at it this way… your tech is cool, but you know you have to find the money for the FDA certification, you’ve filled out Kickstarter, keep going and see if you can charge twice the price and slowly make prototypes and send them to willing early adopters who want in on the ground floor and don’t care about the FDA part…
- btilly 3y agoThe sensors on an Apple Watch are fine for tracking breath while you're absolutely still. That's how devices like https://nightware.com/ https://nightware.com/ can work. What's a device like the Apple Watch can't do is track breath on someone who is standing up and moving around.
