There are traps that you can buy or make for lanternflies. They work absurdly well. It’s basically an upside down plastic bottle with a net funnel attached to the side of a tree. For some reason lanternflies will only climb upwards. So they climb up the net into the bottle and then just stay in there trying to climb up and die.
