I think you are missing the GP’s point. Or here, the American organization we’re discussing might be compararable to your fringe deniers of evolution. My background is in an adjacent field of the humanities to anthropology, but I am in Europe. Our professional orgs and conferences over here generally show none of that obsessive focus on trans issues, taboos, and claims that some presentation would be “harm” or “violence” to “vulnerable people”. That is viewed as a distinctly North American circus, which has made a few inroads elsewhere, especially in the Anglosphere, but has thankfully spared most of the rest of the scholarly world so far.
