Haven't seen the details, but I wonder what's the main difference between this OME-Zarr format and DICOM WSI, that's mostly aimed at the same type of images. Thinking out loud, this looks like the consolidation of several formats and projects. Bioformats, OME, Zarr... Back in the day I had the feeling that the OME/Bioformats people were more centered on research, and the DICOM crowd were mostly from the clinical side.
