Matrix (Mathematics)
- peter_d_sherman 3y ago>"Matrices have a long history of application in solving linear equations but they were known as arrays until the 1800s." Isn't that an interesting mathematical tidbit? Even better, perhaps, might be to research/discover what Matrices, aka "Arrays" (in pre-1800s literature) are called -- in all known languages, current and historical -- then do searches for that terminology for any/all historical math books/papers/writings -- that could be found using those search terms... In fact, now that I think about it, perhaps even more broadly, perhaps the same thing could be done for all known mathematical terms... Oh sure, there'd be a lot of them that wouldn't be found in historical math books/papers/writings, but I wonder what could be found? Maybe even more broadly... an AI could be asked to classify each document on the web, regardless of language, as being a math book/paper/writing of some sort, or not... Sort of like how AI was originally used to determine if a picture was a cat picture or not... Well, we love the cat pictures and all, but I think that using AI to classify every single text document on the web as "math related" (or not!) and then putting just those entries into a new search engine -- would be a far more useful, effective, and productive use of AI classification capabilities...
