Sam Elsom's seaweed solution to tackle climate change
- Grimburger 3y ago> Earthshot heralds Sea Forest's work as revolutionary, saying: "Applying such a solution to 15 per cent of the world's cattle population could reduce three gigatonnes of emissions globally." Is that a lot? Strange giving no context. Yes I could look it up but whatever
- RetroTechie 3y ago~375 kg of emissions per every human living on this entire planet? I'd call that... "significant".
- Grimburger 3y agoThat's about a third of what a London-New York economy seat flight emits? https://www.theguardian.com/environment/ng-interactive/2019/jul/19/carbon-calculator-how-taking-one-flight-emits-as-much-as-many-people-do-in-a-year https://www.theguardian.com/environment/ng-interactive/2019/...
- nbar 3y agoSam is a great guy with a true passion for this. Hope it succeeds.

- hawkesnest 3y agoIt seems like this knowledge has been bouncing around for nearly a decade. Why the slow adoption? This should be a slam-dunk. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24465524/ https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24465524/
- scherlock 3y agoWhy would ranchers spend money on reducing negative externalities they don't have to pay for? If ranchers had to pay a methane emission tax, they would buy it in a heart beat.
