- Fricken 3y agoI'm imagining myself going heli-skiing without the need for a helicopter, a flying chairlift that can take one to any part of the mountain, but I can imagine that too. I wonder how reliable it is. Presumably there isn't much real-world data in as of yet. Is there a reason why cargo drone transport would be any more or less dangerous than a helicopter, at least in the hands of a skilled and responsible operator?
- defrost 3y agoIf there was a reason it would be directly linked to immediate intuitive operator response to turbulent winds near rock faces. I'm not sure how well a distant operator can handle a remote drone in poor conditions close in to cliffs and trees. It's a challenge for experienced pilots who are right there.
- greesil 3y agoAI pilots. AI all the things.
- defrost 3y agoAnd? Exactly how good right now are AI autonomous drones at handling wind sheer conditions in close quarters? Just mumbling AI ALL UR BASES isn't exactly a constructive response without some notion of capability now and in the near future.

- defrost 3y agoShouting an answer to the unasked question, that of a fighter jet in a high-speed, high-G dogfight. Do you have anything on the actual question regarding a probable issue .. turbulent conditions in close quarter hovering? From your own link: The AlphaDogfight simulation on Aug. 20 was an important milestone for AI and its potential military uses. While this achievement shows that AI can master increasingly difficult combat skills at warp speed, the Pentagon’s futurists still must remain mindful of its limitations and risks — both because AI remains long away from eclipsing the human mind in many critical decision-making roles. Open sky manoeuvres of the "dog chasing other dogs tail in cicles" are simpler than many other control scenarios.
