It's interesting that this was posted as I was having this exact discussion on the subject yesterday with some family. I've always considered "couple" to mean 2, "few" to mean 3, "several" to mean more than 3 but less than 12, and "dozen" to mean 12. Now you can have a couple dozen, or several dozen.
