The majority of traffic tickets (including speeding tickets) are civil offenses and generally not considered a crime.
It's not until you get into reckless driving, street racing, or similar that they move into criminal classes (misdemeanor/felony)
- crooked-v 3y agoThat's also part of the general racket of small-town speed traps: if there were real permanent consequences to nonsense speeding tickets, people would contest them instead of paying to make them go away.
