Good. I would like to start seeing more business owners get the, "business death penalty" for egregious malfeasance. Sick and tired of seeing the slap on the wrist penalties of the past.
- sneak 3y agoWhy do we treat people like Madoff or SBF who steal millions in one manner, and people like this who steal millions in a different manner? Seems to me there shouldn't just be civil penalties. These people are large scale thieves.
- squiffsquiff 3y agoMadoff pleaded guilty, was sentenced to 150 years in prison, forfeiture of US$17.179 billion, and a lifetime ban from securities industry. He died in prison after serving 11 1/2 years. Sam Bankman-Freid was orginally arrested in the Bahamas in December 2022, extradited to the US and bailed before being remanded in custody in August 2023. His trial is due to start this week so he still accused but not convicted or sentenced. What exactly is the different manner that you are referring to here?
- freitzkriesler2 3y agoMadoff got what he deserved and punished accordingly. He died in prison. SBF will probably get the same treatment. They both stole from too many big name people. I would love to see these franchise owners charged the same way with a few years in prison. It's time to pierce the corporate vail. If businesses commit crimes than businesses should be out in some form of business jail and also including a business death penalty by disallowing the business to operate entirely with the proceeds being put into a receivership that disadvantages the owner. When entrepreneurs violate laws behind their corporate veil, punish them accordingly and watch businesses start taking that into consideration.
