I sympathize deeply with this take. The last few years have felt like a slow awakening from the delusion that pursuing technology in a fun and playful way could create a positive long term impact in my life, the lives of my loved ones, or on the world. I don't want to give you any advice or chant any platitudes at you. I'll say that what's made my current situation more bearable has been reclaiming a little corner of tech for myself-- a FreeBSD ThinkPad "project car", a little dice roller for a tabletop campaign with my friends written in Rust. It isn't very much, but it's at least scraps of the comfort and control I used to feel.
