I've had some really cheap cards fail but have mostly had better luck with name brands. One of the things I do is to configure hosts to use the overlayfs (read only fileystem) where appropriate and that helps to reduce wear on the SD cards. I don't use then where I want a responsive system and use USB/SSD or NVME/SSD instead.
