This is what playing geopolitical hardball achieves. China needs that investments, but we are in effect sending this message: Liberalize. Become the partner that is more than transactional, but one for mutual security and prosperity and upholding compatible democratic values.
- asdfqwertzxcv 3y agoPretty much what Nixon wanted to achieve by starting relations with them, but it got derailed when new administrations came in and didn’t follow through.
