I interpreted "you’ll be notified to clear it" in the sense of "You will be notified that this is the reason the camera won't take pictures". It seems like a logical assumption - what's the point of adding tech to prevent the target-visible warning light from being obscured, if you're still allowed to take the pictures with it obscured?
