I was obtusely pointing out the danger of this sort of argument. If you're a fan of advertising, possibly work in advertising, then "capitalism is advertising" might get people to say "oh, I really like capitalism so I'd better put up with advertising blighting our culture and turning the world into a surveillance nightmare"; but they might instead conclude "is that right? OK, maybe we should get rid of capitalism then", possibly not what an advertising proponent would want to encourage.
