A couple of years ago we stumbled on Arweave, which is basically like Bitcoin, but for data - a permanent and decentralized web inside an open ledger.
Permanent storage has myriad applications: from the preservation of humanity's most important data, to the hosting of truly decentralized and provably neutral web apps.
We decided to use this tech to build a project called ArDrive, which on the surface ArDrive seems like a web3 DropBox - an app that lets you securely save, manage, and share photos, files, and documents - but it can actually do a lot more.
It gives users access to something called permanent data, which we like to think of as the 0-1 invention that no one is talking about, and a solution that becomes more validated by the week. It lets you exit the cloud and take back full ownership of your wallet, privacy, and digital data. This makes files and photos, websites, NFTS, applications all permanent.
You can pay once and store these forever, instead of paying monthly fees to Google Drive (et al.) for files you that you own. Essentially the benefits of an external hard drive but without the cons of them getting damaged, lost, stolen, or frying.
We built a suite of native and web apps, SDKs, CLI, and other dev tools that we are constantly trying to iterate on and improve, and we'd love to get feedback. And if you're curious to play around with the CLI or CoreJS just drop me a note here!
- mtmail 3y agoThe title is incomplete. I would link to the homepage https://ardrive.io/ https://ardrive.io/ instead as the login page immediately asks for a wallet login without further information.
- lpb10 3y agoThanks for the feedback! New to the platform so not sure what the best approach was. I wanted to provide something more direct to play around with, as opposed to general info but your comment makes sense!
