  I am not surprised by price gouging, what I don't understand is why the EU would be able to buy the drug cheaper. Surely the EU negotiators are just as inept/capable/honest/corrupt as the US ones?

    What US negotiators? Pretty sure the US cannot negotiate most drugs and instead has to pay market rate. So Insurance companies/Pharmacy companies set the price and the US government pays it. If you see the problem you are more aware than Congress.

    As Yanis Varoufakis so famously joked, German price negotiators will skin you alive. Maybe they just are more effective at reducing prices than their US counterparts.
