We've been using X2go for a couple of employees to access their work machines (Windows) from home, but it hasn't been a fun experience. Excessively fiddly to configure and often doesn't work and hard to trouble-shoot. Haven't been able to get new people configured and working.
Recently found Mobixterm which allows you to setup RDP running through an SSH tunnel. This looks to be the winner for us.
I'll probably still use X2go while it still works for me as I'm running Linux at home, but as soon as it get's too tricky I'm going to replace it with a script that fires up the SSH tunnel and uses Freerdp.
