Ukraine rips Elon Musk for disrupting sneak attack on Russian fleet
- itsoktocry 3y ago>“How am I in this war?” during an interview with author Walter Isaacson. You inserted yourself in it, perhaps naively. I mean, you provided military infrastructure to one side (initially for free), the same tech you just signed a contract with the Pentagon for.
- quantified 3y agoIs Spacelink in breach of contract or not? Who is paying the bill, what are the terms of service? For better or worse, relying on commercial infrastructure for national needs is a bad enough situation, relying on commercial infrastructure of a random (non-allied, non-hostile) nation is even worse. Unfortunately for nations smaller/poorer than the very richest, they won't be able to have the same infrastructure as the richest. Being a space power means being able to have militarily useful GPS, comms, and spy capabilities, being not a space power means not having them.
- Rzor 3y agoIt's likely the US military has its own ToS.
- JoeAltmaier 3y agoTiming, location reveal clear desire to support Russian war effort. No naive "Who me?" remarks can deny that. If Ukraine joins NATO, can we declare Elon a war criminal or traitor? I wonder which it will be.
- elmerfud 3y agoI find it hypocritical that when big companies insert themselves in to the business of customers that people don't like everyone is totally fine with it. There's been countless articles about big companies of all ilk dumping customers based upon "social justice" reasonings. Effectively denying these places access to the internet. And people are fine with it because they don't like what some of these places do. Yes I agree these customers that have been kicked off cloudflare and namecheap or when Amazon arbitrarily bans someone and shuts down all their smart devices the reasons they give seem reasonable because we don't want racist bigoted people in our world. All of a sudden we are told that we must blindly support the Ukraine war. I have no comment on whether it's just or unjust I think the ukrainians have the duty to defend themselves from an aggressor but that does not mean that everyone in the world must assist the ukrainians in this. That doesn't mean that I automatically must support the United States supporting the ukrainians in their defense. It's a massive level of hypocrisy saying that cloudflare can kick off a bigoted hate group that has taken no actions other than posting words online but Elon musk is not allowed to say I don't want you to use my network to wage war. Which is it our big companies allowed to insert themselves into social issues or not? Because if your answer is it depends on the issue then you are a hypocrite.
