My comment was pushing back on your assertion that hunting is obviously more energy-efficient, I don't think that is in fact backed up or true. The idea that one person can on on average day provide calories to feed 100 (for the day?) is not backed up by anthropological observation of foraging people hunting in the 20th century, and I don't see any reason to assume it would have been true for prehistoric people either. I guess that would have been the much shorter post i could have written.
