Redshift and Athena are pretty different products. Redshift is a high performance high cost online data warehouse while Athena is a commodity wear sweatpants and eat hot pockets no fixed cost manages presto. One is for serious business, the other is for data pipelines and casual analytics on cold storage.
I would say too, I worked a lot with Andy, Wilke, and to a lesser extent bezos. Andy is no slouch and he earned his job and Wilke earned his loss. But Amazon is a mess, I can’t defend retails business structure - it’s like a giant blank check to product managers. I don’t know I could classify this as cleaning up Bezos mess, it’s hard to see the immense value he created as a mess, I do think Andy has an Augean stable task ahead of him. I think there’s few people capable of that task as Andy.
That said, Andy has a giant gaping hole where his empathetic heart belongs. I am glad I’m not there any more.

Otherwise, that's an impressive history - are you a mgmt consultant? Retail could make money tomorrow if it wasn't so insanely poorly run, like you said. It's stuck in the "profits don't matter, just do more stuff" loop, and honestly will be until they cut deep. I also don't understand where Amazon is going with all these other brands. Twitch? Audible? OneMedical? There's no way that they all make it until the end of the decade.
