Is this just one big protectionist move? Opening the doors for more EU app companies to rake more money? I'm not even sure which EU companies are spending the big lobbying dollars for this one? Anyone?
Conceptually I'm on board in practice I'm not. Once we actually look at what the other side looks like it's going to be super disappointing. And like everyone else said -- if you don't like the platform go shop for another one theres others out there. No one forced you into the Apple ecosystem.
Can't wait for more Pegasus like exploits.
- DaiPlusPlus 3y ago> Opening the doors for more EU app companies to rake more money? EU technology companies are not known for their profiteering compared to American ones. Just saying.
- pb7 3y agoThey're not known for it because they don't have the ability, not because they don't have the willingness. It's not a matter of culture or policy as evidenced by the profiteering of European luxury goods monopolies. Europe can't compete in tech so it has its lunch eaten by American companies.
- DaiPlusPlus 3y ago> It's not a matter of culture or policy as evidenced by the profiteering of European luxury goods monopolies I'm sorry but what?

For example, Luxottica is an eyewear monopoly that owns 80% of brands selling $5 worth of plastic for hundreds.
- fomine3 3y ago0day malwares are due to OS security fault. Hardening must be done by OS rather than store. There are already ways to install non-inspected iOS app.
- boringg 3y agoRight but wouldn't looser security around the App store open up more fronts for attack?
- tristan957 3y agoThe rules to publish on the App Store aren't changing. Apple only has to allow alternative app stores. If you like the App Store, then continue to use it.
