TESCREAL
Saving the human race from itself
Transhumanism - the belief or theory that the human race can evolve beyond its current physical and mental limitations, especially by means of science and technology. For example, by moving our minds into computer brains
Extropianism - evolving framework of values and standards for continuously improving the human condition
Singularitarianism - a movement defined by the belief that a technological singularity — the creation of superintelligence — will likely happen in the medium future, and that deliberate action ought to be taken to ensure that the singularity benefits humans
Cosmism - the philosophical theory that the cosmos is a self-existent whole and was not created by a god, a theory about cosmic evolution, developed from contemporary science, that regards the cosmos as self-existent and self-acting
Rationalism - a belief or theory that opinions and actions should be based on reason and knowledge rather than on religious belief or emotional response
Effective Altruism - a project that aims to find the best ways to help others, and put them into practice
Longtermism - an ethical stance which gives priority to improving the long-term future. It is an important concept in effective altruism and serves as a primary motivation for efforts that claim to reduce existential risks to humanity

- jfengel 3y agoI find it kind of odd to see "rationalism" in a list that is composed of a list of their own emotional responses. The key noun from each of the other answers is "belief", "values", "belief", "theory", "aims", and "stance". All of those are various synonyms of "opinion". The term "rationalism" always raises a red flag to me. It seems to connote "My beliefs are objective facts; yours are irrational emotions". Everybody is out there using their reason, as best they can, to promote their own goals. Just because a goal is technological doesn't automatically make it "more rational". It's fine to have technological goals. But if you've convinced yourself that you are uniquely capable of setting rational goals, and everybody else's can be dismissed as "emotional", then you're setting yourself up to justify abuses just because they don't matter to you.
