If you don't like having "the big light" on then colour changing and dimmable lights are great. A lot of people don't feel qualified to install actual dimmer switches. I only set mine to warm, cold and purple/blue but I don't have room for three lamps. Stuff like the sunrise timer, switching lights on when you're on holiday, and out of home control are just gimmicks though.
