- ChoGGi 3y agoI believe it was "if you fool me... can't get fooled again"
- toyg 3y agoAs it happens, we were both wrong. The original speech is: ”There's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee - that says, fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." https://youtu.be/rQ6N-sb7SVQ?si=tneRi2tldeaNniPC https://youtu.be/rQ6N-sb7SVQ?si=tneRi2tldeaNniPC
- brokenmachine 3y agoWhen that was the dumbest thing we could joke about... Simpler times...
- toyg 3y agoIt was one year after 9/11, at the height of US semi-fascist paranoia. I don't really remember those times as simpler.
- usefulcat 3y agoI read it as a Bush/Trump comparison
- brokenmachine 3y agoYou read it right.
