- telotortium 3y agoSummary: most private universities in the US except for the very elite actually charge much less than their sticker price (which they keep high to give the impression that they're Harvard quality), by giving a "scholarship" to virtually every student attending that reduces the amount paid by 50% or more. In actuality, the inflation-adjusted actual cost for private colleges has stayed fairly stable for decades.
