Speaking for my team, I have several older engineers and it's not so much that they are innovative, but that their experience is incredibly invaluable to those of us who feel like we are innovating, but not in the right way. I just hit 40 last month and I notice that people younger than me can make innovative leaps faster, but people older than me see the problems and solutions faster.
