Tires are particularly (heh) interesting when it comes to how fast they wear. The more traction on the tire, i.e. being able to put the most power on the ground is one that is sticky and thus will wear rather fast. On the other hand you have tires that lasts way longer but perform worse when cornering / accelerating / braking. Personally, I prefer a sticky tire that lasts 20k miles over one that lasts 80k but is not able to bring me to a stop fast enough.
