Tell HN: Was HN Just Down?
- ChrisArchitect 3y agoAsk HN: And,... no? https://hn.hund.io/ https://hn.hund.io/
- lucb1e 3y agoMaybe it happens more to logged-in users? Because I'm sure there have been multiple instances where it was down in the past days and this site shows only one. When set to "show last week worth of data", the page shows an outage yesterday at 18:24; when set to "past day" it shows the outage at 18:48. Huh? The other graphs' data all has an hourly resolution so it rounding to the nearest 24 minutes is plain weird. Also, during the reported outage at 18:whatever, all other graphs show nothing weird. Most notably, the uptime is constant at 99.95%. Across what interval is that measured? What's this last 0.05%? Why does it not change after it reports an outage between 18 and 19 'o clock? Wouldn't trust this software with reporting issues more subtle than a physical cable cut lasting for two hours.
- lucb1e 3y agoAnd it was down again... 2023-10-09T05:05:00Z for both logged-in and logged-out users Your(?) status page claims it updated while HN was serving the "sorry, we're having some trouble" page but did not notice the outage: https://snipboard.io/X5jm9y.jpg https://snipboard.io/X5jm9y.jpg (alt: screenshot showing the hn.hund.io page with "updated less than 5 seconds ago" and "website is operational" claims) Since I got the "sorry we're having trouble" page, it cannot have been my internet or an intermediate router, it's HN itself that was serving that page, and unless they have more than one server now, that means it was down for everyone including the status page. It was up shortly after, but not at the time that the status page claims it refreshed.
- wmf 3y agoYeah, HN has a lot of mini-outages.
- version_five 3y agoEvery now and again there are brief periods where it says "We're having trouble serving your request". It happens when they change something?
- gorenb 3y agoI asked a friend to go to HN and they also saw it.
