Like every article about NYPA's strategy, not a single word in the article about the impact, if any, on the cost of electricity for consumers here in new york city, where we pay the second highest rate per Kwh in the usa (behind HA).
- dublinben 3y agoI'm not sure if New York City specifically pays different prices than average, but according to this EIA report, power in NY is cheaper than every state in New England but Vermont. Alaska and California pay more as well. https://www.eia.gov/electricity/monthly/epm_table_grapher.php?t=table_5_06_a https://www.eia.gov/electricity/monthly/epm_table_grapher.ph...
- sheepshear 3y agoTheir main goal for this project is grid reliability. It's usually a bad idea to link a specific project to people's utility bills. It goes up and down for all sorts of reasons, but the only thing people will notice is when it doesn't go down. Then they'll blame something about that one project they remember hearing about. It's the type of chaos that only campaigning politicians would invite.
