Ah, CFR looking down its long diplomatic nose at carpenters and brick layers
"new stimulus-driven opportunities in fields such as carpentry and bricklaying hold no interest for graduates in areas such as literature and computer science."
The CFR crowd should spend more time learning about anagnorisis and peripeteia https://www.ted.com/talks/mike_rowe_learning_from_dirty_jobs https://www.ted.com/talks/mike_rowe_learning_from_dirty_jobs
- yorwba 3y agoIt's not looking down on carpenters and bricklayers to accurately describe that fresh university graduates are mostly not interested in doing these kinds of jobs and will choose to remain unemployed instead. Maybe they'll become desperate enough for a job, any job, before the service sector recovers enough to offer them that cushy office life they're pining for, but right now many seem to think that living off their parents is a better deal than having to do manual labor.
