Can't we be more like "How China is doing awesome with their solar panels!"
- jpgvm 3y agoNot possible with US-centric media that has to turn everything into "China bad". The reality is that there is more people in the world outside of the US (or US-centric spheres) than in. Chinese leadership in green energy technology might be shunned by the US but it is already being embraced by the developing world. Getting around Bangkok these days you will see way more Neta (Hozon brand in Thailand), BYD and SAIC cars than you will Teslas in fact these Chinese electric cars seem to be selling like hotcakes because I even see them down in Southern Thailand in "rural"-ish areas. There is the occasional BMW or Porsche super high electric cars in BKK but those are basically like the supercars all the hi-so Thai drive and not really representative of what normal/middle-class Thai people would own. Similarly with solar panels and batteries. The main decent approved inverters for grid-tie for my new solar build are all Chinese, mainly Huawei. You have to use an inverter that has been approved by the supplier (in my case the Provincial Electricity Authority, i.e PEA) in order to obtain a net-metering agreement and grid-tie your system. Batteries? Same deal. Everyone here is using EVA or CATL cells in rack mount server chassis or sometimes wall-mounted Huawei batteries. But pretty much all Chinese brands across the board. No one here cares that it's Chinese though and they shouldn't. It's the best price-performance gear you can get and that is what actually matters. China as the bad people is a US construct.
